Hairdressers Rimmelzwaan
Project description
By Herenkappers Rimmelzwaan in Leidschendam, Alexandra Izeboud asked to draw the interior design and supervise its implementation.
In 2015, the hairdressers chose to focus on cutting boys and men, for which they followed training at The Old School Barber Academy in Rotterdam. This created the need to give the interior a metamorphosis in the form of a contemporary variant of the vintage barbershop.
Alexandra Izeboud found the challenge to implement certain materialization that we know from the traditional vintage barbershop in a modern new look. The result is a blend between old and new materials and elements. This is reflected in materialization such as marble and oak veneer, applied in combination with the sleek lines of powder-coated steel, which together provide a contemporary twist. Large mirrors and traditional barber chairs provide a luxurious seating area that customers come back for.
October 3, 2022 was the official opening of the business, where Mark Rutte, a regular customer of Herenkappers Rimmelzwaan for 17 years, toasted with us the successful continuation of the business. Marco Rimmelzwaan is the 2nd generation hairdresser, who succeeded his father Aad Rimmelzwaan in 2002. The business has been around since 1963 and is a household name in Leidschendam. Many photos from the past have been added to the photo wall, providing an authentic feeling.
