Minimalism and abstraction play the main role in the architectural design of the Space stool. By completely dissecting and re-engineering the construction of a bar stool, a construction has been realized for the Space stool in which the frame consists of a minimum of 4 parts that fit together exactly and are connected like a 3D puzzle. The biggest challenge was to bring these 4 millimeter steel parts together in a construction that achieved the necessary strength and stability. By adhering to the initial concept, I as a designer have been challenged to design the parts and assembly very precisely and to apply production techniques that result in this sleek, almost sculptural design, perfect as an eye-catcher at the bar or kitchen island.
